Thanks to David, I got my first job out of university, working at the Hansard Society, organising the "Newsround election" for schools in 1991/2. I always remember - and often repeat - a fantastic piece of advice he gave me. "When I get something that looks a bit too difficult", he said, "I put it in my OBE file. I put it there and wait a few weeks or months and then fish it out and look at it. With any luck, by that time it will have been OBE: Overtaken By Events. And I wont have to do anything about it." So wise. I am not sure that wisdom got him an OBE medal, but his advice is well worth following by the next generation.
